9.1 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! So the Kiwis do get three inside Powerplay 1. Change of angle works for Kyle Jamieson. Comes from around the wicket and a bit wide of the crease. John Campbell plays for the angle coming in, being forced to play at it. Leans with hard hands but the ball straightens a touch and takes the outside edge. Goes straight into the hands of Michael Bracewell at wide slip. Campbell departs after a start as well, 26 (24) and from 31/0, West Indies are 55/3! 55/3

4.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Matt Henry gets the early breakthrough. A short ball, outside off, Ackeem Auguste instinctively goes for the pull. But the ball is angling away from him and also has extra bounce. As a result, he has to fetch the ball and gets a top edge. It goes only as far as the region between mid on and mid-wicket. Both fielders go for the catch but eventually, Rachin Ravindra calls for it from mid on and takes it safely, as Zakary Foulkes backs off from mid-wicket. Auguste departs after another start, 17 (19) and West Indies are 31/1 after 4.4 overs! 31/1

5 OUT! BOWLED! Almost a replica of the dismissal of Marnus Labuschagne from Day 1 of the 2025-26 Ashes. Fuller in length, outside off, Keacy Carty commits himself into playing that defensively, coming forward but at the last moment, decides to let his go. However, he is late in taking that decision and the ball manages to take the inside edge of the bat, rocketing onto the stumps. A 2-baller for Carty and from 31/0, West Indies are 31/2! 31/2

13.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! A strangle down the leg side and that is an unfortunate way to get out. Zakary Foulkes steams in from over the wicket and slips a length ball just down the leg side. Shai Hope looks to get inside the line and tuck it down to fine leg but ends up just edging it down to the left of the keeper. Tom Latham takes a fine diving catch and the centurion from the last game is gone. West Indies are 77/4 now. 77/4

16.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, the fielders nearly collide but eventually, Jacob Duffy does get his man and West Indies have now lost half their side inside 17 overs. Duffy goes for the short ball again and bowls it around off, but this time the height is spot on, right around head height. Sherfane Rutherford has to leap up and tries to upper cut it away but miscues it badly. The ball goes towards the gully region and both Michael Bracewell from first slip and Mark Chapman from backward point run after it. It is the latter who does pouch it and thankfully, the duo doesn't run into each other. Yet another batter departs after a start and from 31/0, West Indies are now 91/5! 91/5

| Roston Chase | 38 | 51 | 3 | 1 | 74.50 |
|
30.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Matt Henry has his third and once again, the commentator's curse has struck. We just mentioned that the visitors cannot afford to lose Chase and he departs. With the scoreboard moving nowhere, Chase had no other option than to try and flay the bowling. Just like Shamar Springer, he too, backed away, aiming to access the off side. Not dissimilarly, the short ball got big on him as well. The top edge was taken and the ball went high in the air. Easy catch for Michael Bracewell at cover. Chase departs for a fighting 38 (51) and from 31/0, West Indies are 143/9! We still have 117 balls left. 143/9

| Justin Greaves | 1 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 11.11 |
|
18.2 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! The pitch is rock hard but this is a very soft dismissal. Catching practice for Mitchell Santner. Full, outside off, Justin Greaves comes forward to drive it back to the bowler but the ball kind of holds up in the surface. As a result, it comes on a bit slowly, meets the bat which is already on its way down, takes the face and lobs straight back to the bowler. Greaves departs for 1 (9) and from 31/0, West Indies are 95/6! 95/6

| Matthew Forde | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |

19 OUT! LBW! Another appeal for LBW and this time, the umpire does raise his finger. However, Matthew Forde has reviewed it. This is smart bowling from Mitchell Santner as he slows it right up and floats it on a nagging length around middle and leg. Forde hops back to defend but the ball grips and straightens a touch, and he ends up playing all around it. The ball goes on to ping him on the pads. The replays roll in and there's nothing on UltraEdge as Ball Tracking comes up with three reds and Santner has two wickets in his very first over. West Indies in deep trouble at 95/7. 95/7

25.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! My job is precious, but that is a serious commentator's curse. We just talked about accelerating and poor Springer tried just that. A short ball, outside off, Shamar Springer backed away to the leg side and had a wild slash at the ball. Only managed to get a thick outside edge, due to the extra bounce. The ball seemed to fly over the keeper but Tom Latham did well to leap and take the catch. The good-looking 29-run stand has been broken and from 31/0, West Indies are 124/8! We still have 149 balls left in this innings. 124/8

36.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Terrific work from Mitchell Santner but that is a disappointing shot from Jayden Seales. New Zealand were playing with his patience and he has fallen into the trap. A short ball, around off, angling away, Seales backs away and looks to go over the off side. Slices this in the air but still seems to have gotten enough to clear cover. However, Santner runs back from the ring and nearly reaches the ropes following the ball, taking a wonderful catch. Henry finishes with a 4-fer and WEST INDIES ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 161! 161/10

5.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Short ball does the trick for Seales. This is pitched outside off and is further angling away. Conway decides to pull it away which means that he has to drag the ball to the leg side. Ends up getting it off the top half of the bat and despite these being short boundaries, the ball does not have enough on it to clear the ropes. Keacy Carty keeps his cool and pouches it safely at deep backward square leg. Seales is pumped up while Conway understands that he has given his wicket away. He departs for 11 (17) and New Zealand are 25/1, needing another 137 runs from 265 balls. 25/1

| Rachin Ravindra | 14 | 22 | 3 | 0 | 63.63 |

7 OUT! BOWLED! That is a massive drag on. Another gift of a wicket but West Indies won't mind. A pretty ordinary delivery, short and wide outside off, Rachin Ravindra looks to hammer the cut through the off side but his feet simply go nowhere. All he manages is a thick inside edge which shatters the stumps. Forde roars in delight while Ravindra walks back to the shed shaking his head, for a good-looking 14 (22). New Zealand are 27/2 and need another 135 from 258 balls. 27/2

10.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Is that a bird? Is that a plane? No, that's Superman's latest edition by the name of KHARY PIERRE! Jeez, are we onto something here? It is so refreshing to see West Indies give it their all to try and defend this paltry total. Full and wide outside off, Will Young leans into the shot, expecting to get it through the covers, but he does not keep it down. He thinks it is in the gap but Pierre douses all that thought. At extra cover, he springs to his left and takes a one-handed stunner! Young cannot believe his luck and that wicket is to the fielder. Young departs for 3 (11) and from 25/0, New Zealand are 32/3! Equation - 130 runs, 237 balls. 32/3

27.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Well, Chapman won't be around till the end. A short ball, outside off, Chapman leaps and looks to play the upper cut but still, it is too high for him to play that. His both feet are in the air when he connects with the ball and it flies off the top portion of the blade. Khary Pierre is waiting patiently at the point boundary and pouches it. End of a fine knock of 64 (63) from Chapman and the Kiwis are 145/5, just 17 away from inflicting a 3-0 whitewash. 145/5

19.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Would you believe it? Roston Chase just jogs in and serves a long hop to begin with but somehow, Tom Latham has hit it straight to the fielder. What a timely wicket for the Windies and Latham cannot believe he's just done that. Chase comes from around the wicket and bowls it well short around off, Latham rocks back to pull but hits it flat and very straight. The ball goes towards Matthew Forde at short mid-wicket and he takes a good, sharp catch. New Zealand lose their 4th wicket and the brewing stand is broken. 70/4

29.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust and that's another sharp catch from the Windies. Shamar Springer serves a full ball on off stump and angles it in. Mitchell Santner hangs deep in the crease and looks to swat it across the line but loses his shape and miscues it flat to mid-wicket. Roston Chase moves swiftly and low to his left and pouches it safely. West Indies aren't going away without a fight but they are running out of runs to defend as well. 156/6
