KL Rahul, the skipper of India says that the results didn't go their way in the one-day series so it's a good start for this one. Adds that the Bangladeshi batters were playing well and getting comfortable runs and the way they batted in the second innings made it a bit difficult and it's good to start the series with a win. Says that from the position they were in the first innings, they did well and their bowling in the first innings set the game for them. Applauds Gill and Pujara for their performance and says that they haven't played test series in a while but the bowlers did well and got timely breakthroughs. Kuldeep Yadav is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his 8 wickets in the game. He says that he is happy with his performance both with the bat and ball and adds that it was a good Test for him. Tells that the wicket was a bit quicker in the first innings and in the second innings it was challenging as the wicket was a bit slower. Tells that as a wrist spinner, you have more revs on the ball and there are more variations as well and that helps in the middle. Says that he worked on his rhythm in the last year and that has helped him.
Shakib Al Hasan, the skipper of Bangladesh says that it was a good batting pitch and they didn't bat well. Adds that it was difficult for them as they are playing Test cricket after 5-6 months but it's not an excuse. Says that they did identify their mistakes in the second innings but it was not enough and credits Zakir Hasan for playing really well. Ends by saying that to win a Test match, they need to play good cricket for all five days and especially to get a result against India. Mentions that is difficult against a quality side but they will come back stronger.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, do have some positives to take away from this game. However, they need to be far better than this, if they want to win Test matches regularly. They were in a strong position after the first session of this Test match but let things drift away from them. They dropped quite a few chances in the first innings and that is not what is expected from a Test side. The batting unit too faltered miserably in the first innings as they were bowled out for 150 but the positives will be how they batted in the second innings and the way their two young openers showed character and grit in the middle. Zakir Hasan scored a century on debut and Shakib too got some runs in end with his counter-attacking knock. Overall, a lot to improve for Bangladesh and they need to play 5 days of good Test cricket to make more impact in the next Test match.
India showed in this Test match why there are one of the best Test teams in the world. They were put under the pump in the first session of Day 1 when they lost three early wickets. However, the depth of this Indian side came to the rescue and India managed to notch up over 400 runs courtesy of a fine partnership between Iyer and Pujara. In the second outing with the bat, Gill and Pujara notched up their respective centuries as the pitch got better to bat on. On the bowling front, India would be petty happy with how Kuldeep Yadav went about this business in this comeback game. He finished with 8 wickets in the Test match which included a five-wicket haul in the first innings but it was an all-round bowling effort from India on a pitch that was pretty good to bat on and they had the attack for all seasons as everyone contributed their bit to this win.
India have wrapped up the game on Day 5 in just 50 minutes and they now go 1-0 up in this two-match Test series. More importantly, they have notched up important World Test Championship points and this will keep India in the hunt for a place in the World Test Championship final to be held in 2023. Bangladesh, on the other hand, showed some fight in the last innings of this Test match but really, it was too much to do in the end for them.

We are all set for the morning session of Day 5! The on-field umpires have made their way out to the middle. The two overnight Bangladesh batters, Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan also stride out to the middle now. For India, Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets but all other bowlers did their bit and India now would be hoping to wrap this game early in the morning session. The pitch though is still very good to bat on and Bangladesh need 241 runs to win from here. It's a very tough task but if Bangla Tigers can put up another spirited fight, things can get very interesting. Stay tuned.
On Day 4, India managed to pick up 6 wickets in total but the first session belonged to Bangladesh. Two young openers, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan compiled a 124-run stand as a wicketless first session put India in a spot of bother. However, Test cricket is all about putting those persistent efforts on the field even when the results are not going your way and India did just that and reaped the rewards in the last two sessions as they managed to pick three wickets in each session to take home the advantage at the end of Day 4. Zakir Hasan scored a century on debut while Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a fifty but the middle order could not show the same application.

The home team, Bangladesh showed a lot of fight on Day 4 and have taken this game to the final day but with only four wickets to win for India, the visitors are most likely to go 1-0 up in the series today. Bangladesh though would like to take the game deep as much as possible with Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan at the crease and let’s see how things pan out.

Bangladesh have shown here on Day 4 that they are far better unit with the bat than they showed in the first innings. A lot of credit for that should go to their openers. They stitched together a 124-run stand and though Shanto departed after fifty, the debutant Zakir Hasan continued and got to a century. However, he soon departed after his hundred and the middle order too could not back up a good performance by the openers. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan have played well though and have mixed caution with aggression nicely. However, they need this pair to bat deep on Day 5 if they want to draw or even win this game and let's see how they go about thier business on the final day on this Test match. India came into Day 4 with high hopes of wrapping this game up till the end of the day but they were up against a stubborn opening partnership and a pitch that got better to bat on. India just could not find the breakthrough in the morning session but then Umesh Yadav struck after Lunch to break the opening stand and then spinners joined the act to find regular breakthroughs. Axar Patel was particularly impressive as he got rid of Yasir Ali in the second session and then got two wickets in one over in the final session to put Bangladesh on the mat. Kuldeep and Ashwin also bowled well and got one wicket apiece as India have managed to pick six wickets in the day. They would like to finish things off early on Day 5 and if they can break the partnership between Shakib and Mehidy early we might have an early finish on Day 5.
It has been another riveting session and with three wickets again in this session, India have moved closer to a victory here. Bangladesh though have done well to take this game into Day 5 but would be slightly disappointed with six wickets down now after a wicketless first session. It looks India from hereon as Bangladesh still need 241 runs to win and only have four wickets in hand with three sessions to play but you never know, we can also have another twist in the tale on Day 5.

Axar Patel then got rid of Yasir Ali who could not make an impact again and India kept the pressure through the whole session even though Litton Das and Zakir Hasan tried to build a partnership. Kuldeep Yadav came up with an inspired spell around the end of the session and finally got the better of Litton Das to hand India advantage going into Tea.

Paras Mhambrey, India's bowling coach is down for a chat. He stays that he is very happy with the performance of bowlers as the pitch is not easy for them and they had to work hard. Tells that it is sometimes difficult to adjust to the conditions and the nature of the pitch but the practice sessions give a fair amount of India and they help a lot to understand the bounce and other things. Mentions that all bowlers know their responsibilites and they know exactly what to do in a particular situation. He says that he is very happy with the performance of Kuldeep Yadav as he had a tough time in the last few years and tells that they need a bowler like him who provide different angle and adds that it is exciting to see him perform well.
Day 3 belonged to Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara who notched up their respective centuries after India decided to not enforce the follow-on after Kuldeep Yadav's five-wicket haul and bundling out Bangladesh for 150 in the first innings. Bangladesh were hampered by the injuries to Ebadot Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan who could not bowl and things drifted away from them very quickly as India notched up their runs pretty quickly. Bangladesh openers then played out tricky 12 overs at the end of the day and if they can show a similar application on Day 4, things can get interesting. Hello and a warm welcome to Day 4 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. India have dominated this Test match so far and are looking all set to win this game from here. Bangladesh have been set a target of 513 and though they have started solidly with the bat, expecting them to bat out six sessions or chase the target in the last two days will be pretty optimistic to say the least. The home side, Bangladesh, were behind the 8-ball right from the start of Day 3 and though they have batted well late in this final session but the task in front of them is still very tough. As expected they could not add much to their overnight score of first innings in the opening session and then with the ball, they looked pretty flat and tired. They actually had only three frontline bowlers to work with as Ebadot Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan were not fit to bowl and that did not help their cause either. However, now it is all about how they can bat on Day 4 and take this game as deep as possible from here. Can Bangladesh give something to cheer for their fans on Day 4? Shubman Gill is in for a quick chat. He says that he is living this moment and Virat is very much happy with his 100. Adds that there were no different thoughts and he knew his strong areas. India started Day 3 with two wickets needed to wrap up Bangladesh’s first innings and they did so in around 50 minutes. However, India decided to not enforce the follow-on and came out to bat for their second outing. They did start cautiously but soon picked the pace and even though Rahul departed after getting yet another start, Gill and Pujara made sure that they convert their starts into a century this time around. Gill got to his maiden century while Pujara got his fastest century in Test cricket as India scored more that 4 runs per over. India declared with 12 overs to go in the day and would have hoped for at least couple of breakthroughs before the end of the day but Bangladesh batted well and India now need to pick 10 wickets in 6 sessions to win this one.
Bangladesh openers have done well to play out the tricky 12 overs they needed to deal with in this session. This is the kind of grit and character they need to show in Test cricket more often and they would be hoping to continue the same on Day 4. However, India are at the driver’s seat at the end of day 3 and anything other that Indian victory from here will be a big surprise. Cricket though is a game of uncertainties and we can never be sure what is in store for us in future.
