About University Oval, Dunedin

The University Oval is an oval sports ground situated at Logan Park, Dunedin, New Zealand. Originally owned by the University of Otago, the ground is now owned by the Dunedin City Council (DCC). The home ground of the Otago Cricket Association is also used as a training ground for the Highlanders Rugby football team. The ground has a seating capacity of 3,500 people which is expandable to 6,000 due to the provisions of temporary seating which are added during live matches. The University Oval became New Zealand's seventh official test venue when it hosted its first Test match between the hosts and the touring Bangladesh in early 2008. New Zealand's chief turf assessor, Jarrod Carter and groundsman Tom Tamati were responsible for the new pitch that met both team's expectations. The in-house facilities provided by the stadium are also of top standard. Apart from that, a media complex is situated at the northern end of the ground and a historic grandstand at its southern end.
