This stadium feels like it is straight out of a sci-fi movie. Also known as Docklands Stadium or a Victoria Stadium, it is a sports-entertainment stadium, where one could even go for sightseeing. Retractable roof 38 metres above playing surface which takes eight minutes to fully open or close, movable seating, colosseum like structure, two large internal replay screens which display scores and advertisements, external super screens, 1,000 video seats, 13 function rooms, 2,500 car parks below the ground, 2000-watt lights for illumination purposes, an AFL capacity of 53,355 and 66 corporate boxes. Primarily built for football matches, it has also hosted cricket tourneys since its inception. The first ODI to be held here was between Australia and South Africa on August 16, 2000.
