Mahesh Bhupathi and Mary Pierce won the mixed doubles title in the Wimbledon Tennis Championships today. The Indo-French pair defeated Paul Hanley of Australia and Tatiana Perebiynis of Ukraine in the final in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. The Indo-French pair dominated the final, which they won in 54 minutes. They forced an early break in the first set before winning it in 28 minutes. The second set also followed a similar pattern as Bhupathi and Pierce overpowered their opponents making full use of their rich experience. They had earlier upset third seeded Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Lisa Raymond of USA in straight sets 7-5, 6-1 to set up the title clash with Hanley and Perebiynis. It was Bhupathi's second mixed doubles title. In 1997, he had won the mixed doubles title at the French Open with Rika Hiraki. It was the first ever mixed doubles title for Mary Pierce.
