As per a report by The Indian Express, Kohli has informed the BCCI that he wants to retire from Test cricket.

However, the BCCI has reportedly urged him to reconsider his decision.

"He's still incredibly fit and hungry. His presence in the dressing room lifts the entire team," a senior BCCI official said on condition of anonymity.

Another report by Times of India states that Kohli had told teammates 'he is done' during India's Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss to Australia.

No public announcement on the matter has been made by Kohli or BCCI yet.

Kohli is India's fourth-highest run-scorer in Tests, and is only 770 runs short of the coveted 10,000-run mark.

Reports about Kohli's retirement comes just a few days after Rohit Sharma announced his own retirement from Test cricket.
