Chhetri Retires - Lookback At Glorious Career

Long-serving India captain Sunil Chhetri announced his retirement from international football.

The 39-year-old star player announced his decision through a video on his social media accounts.

The FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Kuwait on June 6 will be Chhetri's last international match.

Having made his debut in 2005, Chhetri will retire as India's all-time top scorer with a total of 94 goal

Chhetri is also third in the list of goal scorers among active players behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Apart from this, he is also in the fourth spot in the all-time list of international goal-scorers.

Earlier in March, Chhetri played his 150th international match, when India squared off against Afghanistan in Guwahati.

Chhetri has also widely contributed for clubs like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, Dempo, and ISL sides Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC.

With Bengaluru FC, he has won big titles like  the I-League (2014 and 2016), ISL (2019), Super Cup (2018) and also reached AFC Cup final in 2016.
