One of India's brightest medal prospects at Paralympics 2024 is 17-year-old Sheetal Devi.

However, the girl from Jammu was born without arms, due to a rare congenital disorder called phocomelia.

Sheetal uses her right leg to raise the bow, pulls the string with the help of her right shoulder, and releases the arrow with her jaw strength.

Despite this, she is ranked no. 1 in the world in the women's open compound category.

Devi began archery at the age of 15. By 16, she had won two golds and a silver in the 2022 Para Asian Games.

She competes in the W1 division, where archers sit on wheelchairs and have impairment in at least three out of their limbs.

Sheetal Devi is the first and only international para-archery champion without upper limbs.
