Pant underwent knee surgery in January last year. His anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) were rebuilt in the surgery.

Making a remarkable recovery, Pant was declared the captain of the Delhi Capitals, though there remained concerns about his wicket-keeping.

According to the BCCI release, Pant has been declared fully fit both as a wicket-keeper and a batter for this year's IPL.
