Records Broken In WI vs AFG T20 WC Match

Nicholas Pooran and West Indies broke several records during their T20 World Cup 2024, Group C match against Afghanistan.

Batting first, WI posted a whopping total of 218/5 in 20 overs. Later, Afghanistan could not even put up a good fight and got bundled out for just 114.

In the 4th over of WI's innings, Pooran smashed 36 runs off all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.

He equalled the record of former India batter Yuvraj Singh for scoring most runs in an over of a T20 World Cup match.

Apart from this, the Caribbean side registered the record for the highest powerplay score in the history of the T20 World Cup.

They scored 92 in the first six overs and surpassed the previous record of 91 runs set by the Netherlands against Ireland.

Talking about the overall stats, this was the fourth highest powerplay score in the history of T20Is.

The highest score was 102/0, registered by South Africa against West Indies in 2023.
