Pant got a standing ovation from the fans as he strode out to the middle, following David Warner's dismissal.

However, his team lost to PBKS in the second match of IPL 2024 at the newly-inaugrated Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali.

Chasing 175, PBKS rode on Sam Curran's 47-ball 63 to achieve their target with four wickets and four balls to spare.

Curran, who was dropped on 33 by Tristan Stubbs, fell in the 19th over as Khaleel Ahmed struck on successive balls.

In the end, Curran's fellow Englishman Liam Livingstone hit the winning six in his 21-ball 38 to see his side through.

After the loss, DC captain Pant termed veteran pacer Ishan Sharma's injury as the turning point in the match.
