Named After Yuvraj Singh, Canada Star Scripts World Cup History

Canada batter Yuvraj Samra slammed a 58-ball hundred during the T20 World Cup 2026 clash against New Zealand on Tuesday.

Named after India great Yuvraj Singh, Samra became the youngest batter to score a World Cup century, across the T20 and ODI formats.

Samra is also the third youngest centurion in men's T20I history, but the first to do it against a full-member team.

At 19 years and 141 days, he surpassed Pakistan's Ahmed Shehzad, who scored a century during the 2014 edition aged 22 years 127 days.

Samra produced a fearless 110 in Chennai, smashing six sixes and 11 fours in his 65-ball knock.

However, his knock went in vain as New Zealand beat Canada by eight wickets to seal their place in the Super 8.

Chasing 174, New Zealand rode on half-centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips to overhaul it in 15.1 overs.
