1. England vs Australia, 1890

The first instance happened in Old Trafford. Test matches used to be 3 days long back then, and it rained on all three.

2. England vs Australia, 1938

48 years later, Old Trafford was the venue again. The four-day Test match was abandoned due to rain.

3. Australia vs England, 1970

After incessant rain at the MCG for three days, a Test was cancelled. Instead, a 60-over game was played, making it the first-ever ODI.

4. New Zealand vs Pakistan, 1989

At Dunedin, the Test was cancelled after three days. Once again, an ODI was played instead.

5. West Indies vs England, 1990

The trend of ODIs replacing cancelled Test matches continued in Bourda, where a 49-overs-a-side match was played.

Foggy weather and poor visibility at Faisalabad led to the Test cancelled, handing Zimbabwe their first-ever overseas Test series win.

On the same day as Pak v Zim, this Test in Dunedin also had to be called off, this time due to rain. They played a 50-over exhibition game.
