Renowned industrialist and the chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86.

Under his leadership, Tata Group reached new heights and touched the fabric of the nation through his contributions across different areas including sports.

Tata always had an immense liking for cricket and over the years, he has contributed in making the sport widely popular in the world.

In 1996, the Tata group launched the Titan Cup. It was a triangular series, which was played between India, Australia, and South Africa.

The series turned out to be major success and Sachin Tendulkar's India clinched the title.

However, amid the match-fixing scandal in 2000, the Tata group withdrew it's support from cricket.

Later in 2020, Chinese phone brand Vivo ended it's sponorship from the Indian Premier League (IPL), due to the polticial tensions between India and China.

Tata emerged into the scene and took the sponsorship of the IPL. In January 2024, Tata group also signed a whopping 2,500 crore deal with IPL for 4 years.

With the emergence of Women's Premier League in 2023, Tata also secured it's sponsorship rights till 2027.
