India's Super 8 QUALIFICATION Scenario Explained

India's heavy 76-run defeat to South Africa leaves them in a precarious position when it comes to qualifying for the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals.

If India win their remaining two Super 8 matches against West Indies and Zimbabwe, they're likely to guarantee qualification on 4 points.

However, if the winner of the WI-ZIM match also beats SA, then India's qualification would come down to net-run-rate (NRR).

This could make it tricky for India, as their NRR is down at -3.800 after their defeat to South Africa.

If India win just one of their remaining two matches, then they will have to rely on NRR and other results.

In that case, India would have to hope that SA win all their matches, and their own win comes against winner of the WI-ZIM match.

In such a scenario, India, West Indies and Zimbabwe would be tied on 2 points each, and the semi-finalist would be decided by NRR.
