Ganguly vs Gambhir: Who Said What On Kolkata Pitch Row

India head coach Gautam Gambhir received criticism from experts and fans after India lost the 1st Test against South Africa in Kolkata.

Gambhir was particularly criticised for requesting a spin-friendly track at the Eden Gardens, after India failed to chase down a target of 124.

One of the people who voiced their disapproval of Gambhir's strategy was legendary former India captain Sourav Ganguly.

"Play on good wickets. I hope Gautam Gambhir is listening. Win Test matches in 5 days. Not in 3 days," said Ganguly to NDTV.

Ganguly had earlier confirmed that the Eden pitch had not been watered for four days, according to the request sent by the Indian camp.

Gambhir, on the other hand, remained adamant that the pitch wasn't an unplayable one.

"It was not an unplayable wicket, there were no demons. This is exactly the pitch we were looking for," Gambhir said.

"When you don't play well, this is what happens. If you are willing to put your head down, it is a wicket where you can score," he added.
