AFP Asia Cup Handshake Row: Who Was At Fault?
The ICC rejected Pakistan's demand to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from the panel of officials for the ongoing Asia Cup.
X/@Johns This demand was made by the PCB as they held Pycroft responsible for the team's insult, following the 'no-handshake' row against India.
AFP PCB had filed a complaint with the ICC alleging that Pycroft asked captain Salman Ali Agha not to shake hands with India captain Suryakumar Yadav.
X/@Johns After the match, India did not exchange handshakes with Pakistan as a mark of respect for the Pahalgam terror attack victims and their families.
AFP It is reliably learnt that the situation arose due to PCB's Director of Cricket Operations Usman Walha.
X/@Sher According to PTI sources, it was Walha's duty to inform Salman about the "No Handshake" policy but he didn't do so.
AFP As a result, Walha was suspended from his duties by PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the current chairman of the Asian Cricket Council.
