AFG Script History With 1st-Ever Win Over AUS

Afghanistan scripted history as they defeated Australia by 21 runs in their T20 World Cup 2024, Super 8 match in Kingstown.

Asked to bat first, Afghanistan posted a total of 148/6, despite an 118-run opening standing between Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60) and Ibrahim Zadran (51).

During the chase, Australia lost some early wickets but Glenn Maxwell's powerful hitting brought them back into the game.

However, the Afghan bowlers held their nerves and bundled out Australia for 127 and won the game by 21 runs.

For Afghanistan, pacer Gulbadin Naib was the star bowler as he scalped four wickets and leaked only 20 runs.

Apart from Naib, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan also scalped one wicket each.

This was Afghanistan's first-ever win over Australia in international cricket.
