Nikhat bowed out of the women's 50kg pre-quarterfinals after a unanimous decision loss to top seed Wu Yu of China.

Nishant Dev

Nishant was one win away from confirming a medal, but lost to Mexico's Marco Verde Alvarez in the Men's 76kg quarterfinals.

Lovlina Borgohain

Lovlina Borgohain missed out on a medal as she lost her quarterfinal bout to China's Li Qian in the women's 75kg event.

Lovlina had won the bronze three years back in Tokyo, while Nikhat and Nishant were making their Olympics debuts this time

However, the disappointment doesn't end here as three more Indian boxers also exited their respective draws earlier than expected.

Amit Panghal suffered a disappointing loss in Men's 51kg R16 bout against Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba.
