Charleston, South Carolina:

The US has reached the final of the Davis Cup after taking an unbeatable lead 3-0 lead in their semi-final against Belarus. Twins Bob and Mike Bryan beat Max Mirnyi and Vladimir Voltchkov 6-1, 6-3, 7-5 to help the US reach their first Davis Cup final since 1997.The Americans will now face either Spain or France in December's Davis Cup final.Earlier, the US took a commanding 2-0 lead on the second day of the tie. Twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan represented the US in the day's doubles match, facing Max Mirnyi and Vladimir Voltchkov. The Americans found themselves two break points down in the first game of the match, but they fought their way back to deuce before serving out the game. In contrast, Belarus found themselves trailing in their first service game, but failed to reduce the deficit and quickly fell a break behind at 2-0. Stiff opposition The Bryan brothers continued their rich vein of form thanks in part to the backing of a loud and colourful crowd. A further break of the Belarussians' serve came in the sixth game and the American pairing then served out the set 6-1. The Bryans faced stiffer opposition in the second set, but continued to pick up winners with Bob proving particularly dangerous. Fighting for survivalBelarus were fighting for their survival in the match and the tournament - with upsets already completed over Argentina and Russia they weren't willing to see their Davis Cup campaign end without a fight. A break of serve in the third game of the set put the visitors on the back heel though and they were broken again in the ninth game as the USA took a two set lead - 6-1, 6-3. The crowd could sense a victory as the USA were only one set away from reaching the Davis Cup final for the first time since 1997. A decisive third set win did not come easily, but Belarus faltered at a crucial point as the Bryan brothers broke in the 12th game to complete a 6-1, 6-3, 7-5 victory. (AP)
