MELBOURNE:

Defending champion Serena Williams marched into the Australian Open fourth round with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Victoria Azarenka of Belarus on Friday.

The American seventh seed blasted down 15 aces in the match and exerted a dominance not reflected on the scoreboard.

"I'm feeling pretty good about where I am, I'm just enjoying every moment being here," she said.

Azarenka, the 26th seed at Melbourne Park, did well to keep in touch with Williams throughout the match, with 25 unforced errors from the eight-time Grand Slam champion helping her opponent's cause.

But Williams was able to ratchet up the power in the second set and secured her fourth round berth after one hour 17 minutes.

She will meet Czech 12th seed Nicole Vaidisova next up, who like Williams is yet to drop a set in the tournament.

"It's another good match, she's playing really well," she said.
