Defending champion Serena Williams cruised into the Wimbledon quarter- finals with a crushing victory over Tatiana Golovin.

Defending champion Serena Williams cruised into the Wimbledon quarter- finals with a crushing victory over Tatiana Golovin. Even though Tatiana managed to continue her form from the Australian open, Serena Williams was far too tough a challenge. The defending champion won 6-2 6-1 in just 55 minutes. Also through to the last eight after are Amelie Mauresmo and Paola Suarez. Mauresmo saw off Silvia Farina Elia 7-5 6-3, while Suarez beat Rita Grande 4-6 6-0 6-2. The fourth-seeded Frenchwoman reached the semi-finals here in 2002. (AP)
