Paris:

There aren't going to be too many Americans at Roland Gartos this year. Former champions Serena Williams and Jennifer Capriati have pulled out of the French Open because of injuries. Serena, who won the Australian Open earlier this year, sprained her ankle at Amelia Island in April. She had won the French Open in 2002. Williams made a comeback at the Rome Masters earlier this month, but was shocked by Italy's Francesca Schiavone in the second round. Capriati who will also miss the second Grand Slam of the year, has not played all year due to shoulder surgery.
