Sania reaches Rabat ITF meet final

Sania Mirza beat third seed Carla Tiene of Brazil 6-2 6-1 to enter the finals of Rabat ITF Women's World Ranking tennis tournament in Morocco.

Hyderabad: Continuing her giant killing spree, Sania Mirza upset third seed Carla Tiene of Brazil 6-2 6-1 to enter the finals of the 10,000 USD Rabat ITF Women's World Ranking tennis tournament being held at Morocco. Tiene, ranked 276 in the world, was comprehensively outplayed by the 17-year-old Indian who packed her game with power to win the first set of the semifinal clash with ease. In the second set, Sania, ranked 466, faced little resistance from the Brazilian, who caved in under pressure. Sania will now meet second seed Bahia Mouhtassine of Morocco in the final and a victory will give her the eighth professional ITF title of her career. (PTI)
