Sania-Mattek lose in semis

Sania Mirza's and her Amerian partner Bethanie Mattek crashed out of the semi-finals at the Stanford Open on Sunday.

Sania Mirza's good run in the doubles came to an end when the Indian teenager and her Amerian partner Bethanie Mattek crashed out of the semi-finals at the Stanford Open on Sunday. The pair lost in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to the fourth seed Italian-Argentine duo of Maria Elena Camerin and Gisela Dulko. Earlier in the tournament, Sania had crashed out of the singles event in the first round itself, losing to the little known Russian player Vasi Lisa Bardina. Sania has had a poor second full season in the WTA Tour but her doubles show has been quite impressive. Last week, Sania had reached the finals at Mason in the Tier III WTA event, partnering with Poland's Marta Domashowska, which also fetched her the career best doubles ranking of 31.
