Venus Williams has defeated Sania Mirza 6-3 6-3 in the Champions Challenge in Hong Kong. Sania took a two games to love lead against the Wimbledon champion before running out of steam. Venus, who started looking totally out of sorts, took a 10-minute injury time out and was a completely different player after that. Sania had her moments of forehand brilliance, but was outplayed by the American. Venus, who now plays Lindsay Davenport in the semis, complimented the 34th-ranked Indian for a good match.
