Sania Mirza and Janette Husarova advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the women's doubles at the French Open on Monday.

Sania Mirza and Janette Husarova advanced to the pre-quarterfinals of the women's doubles at the French Open Tennis Tournament on Monday. They upset third seeds Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Meghan Shaughnessy of the US 6-3 6-4. Earlier, Mahesh Bhupathi's campaign in the men's doubles ended with a three-set loss in the quarterfinals. Bhupathi, two-time champion here, and Belgian Xavier Malisse went down to Andrei Pavel of Romania and Germany's Alexander Waske 2-6 6-2 6-1 at the Roland Garros. Bhupathi, however, is still in contention for the mixed doubles crown. In the junior's section, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan bowed out in the second round with a 6-2 6-2 loss to top seed Thierno de Bakker of the Netherlands. Earlier, Sanaa Bhambri went out of the girls' singles on Sunday. The Delhi girl lost to Anouk Tigu of the Netherlands 6-3 5-7 6-2 in the first round. (PTI)
