Sanam Singh, Chris Kwon in quarterfinals

Indian qualifier Sanam Singh and American Chris Kwon won their respective matches to enter the quarterfinals.

Hyderabad : Indian qualifier Sanam Singh and American Chris Kwon won their respective matches to enter the quarterfinals of the 10,000 USD prize money ITF Futures men's tennis tournament. Playing some superb tennis, Singh humbled compatriot Jaco Mathew 6-1 6-1 at the LB Stadium Tennis Complex. Kwon survived some anxious moments before defeating Kedar Tembe of India 7-5 6-4 where the Indian had shown brilliance in streaks. In other pre-quarter matches, top seed Aqeel Khan of Pakistan blanked Vikas Punna of India 6-0 6-0 while second seeded Vinod Sridhar had an easy outing against fellow Indian Anand Kumar before prevailing 6-0 6-2. Sixth seed Vijay Kannan won the most difficult match of the day against a fighting Chang Kai-Lung of Chinese Taipei with both the sets going into tie-break. Backed up by the home crowd, Kannan won the match 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-3). In a thrilling contest, Nitin Kirtane of India went down fighting to Liu Tai-Wel of Chinese Taipei 2-6 6-3 5-7. In the doubles quarter-final matches, Ashutosh Singh and Gurmender Singh of India beat compatriots Anumaganti Anand Raju and Gide Rohan 6-3 5-7 6-4 while Jaco Mathew and Vinod Sridhar beat Arindam Datta and Vishal Punna 6-4 6-2.
