Roddick powers into third round

Defending champion Andy Roddick unleashed his second 152 mph serve of the US Open as he rolled to a second-round victory over 18-year-old Rafael Nadal.

Defending champion Andy Roddick unleashed his second 152 mph serve of the US Open as he rolled to a second-round victory over 18-year-old Rafael Nadal. Roddick blasted 10 aces en route to a 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 win over the left-handed Spaniard. First encounter This was the first meeting between Roddick, who is already a dominating player on the ATP Tour, and the upstart Nadal. Roddick is trying to return to championship form after losing to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final and most recently in the third round of the Athens Olympics. In the women's singles, crowd favourite Serena Williams was up against French teenager Tatiana Golovin. And as expected, Serena moved into the fourth round but not before she had accumulated 42 unforced errors in the 1 hour 34 minute contest. (With PTI inputs)
