Doha:
Leander Paes has told NDTV that the media reports about a fallout between him and Mahesh Bhupathi are not true. "I only said I won't play professionally with Mahesh anymore," he said. Paes added that he was still willing to play with Bhupathi for India. Earlier, media reports indicated that Paes said pairing up with Bhupathi for all doubles events was not something he was looking for. Bhupathi had reacted saying his partnership with Leander was over and he was happy that it had ended on a high. "I have lived with his comments for 12 years, I am hurt," Bhupathi said. He said it was always clear that Paes didn't want to play with him, and they had been living through a soap opera for the past ten days. The statements had came shortly after the top seeds beat the second-seeded Ratiwatana twins from Thailand. The win gave India its first gold medal from the tennis courts at Doha. The three-time Grand Slam men's doubles champions saved seven match-points, including three-in-a-row, to stop Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatane 5-7 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 in the final.
