Nadal pulls out of China Open

Rafael Nadal will not be able to defend his title at the China Open because of an ankle injury.

Beijing:

Rafael Nadal will not be able to defend his title at the China Open because of an ankle injury. The Spaniard was upset by Russia's Mikhail Youzhny in the quarterfinals of the US Open on Wednesday. "In order to return to the court as soon as possible, I need to take a rest,'' Nadal said in a statement on the tournament's web site. The China Open tournament begins on Monday. (AP)
