Moscow chosen to host Fed Cup finals

Moscow will host the Fed Cup finals for the second straight year, the International Tennis Federation announced today.

London : Moscow will host the Fed Cup finals for the second straight year, the International Tennis Federation announced today. Subject to the signing of a promoter agreement, the matches, semifinals and final will be played on carpet at the new 5,200-seat Ice Stadium Krylatskoe the week of Nov. 22. The stadium is in the final stage of completion. The ITF's Fed Cup Committee picked Moscow ahead of Nice, France and Garmisch, Germany. "As they did last year, the Russian Tennis Federation will do an outstanding job in hosting and promoting the 2004 Fed Cup Finals, and we look forward to a great week of tennis in Moscow," ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti said. Defending champion France, Russia, Spain and Austria have reached the final four. The semifinal draw takes place Sept. 10 in Moscow. (AP)
