Strasbourg, France:

Top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo of France beat Varvara Lepchenko of Uzbekistan 6-4, 6-1 on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Strasbourg International.

Second-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, No 4 Li Na of China and No 5 Marion Bartoli of France also won their second-round matches without dropping a set, as did No 6 Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain, and No 9 Emilie Loit of France.

Mauresmo, formerly the world's top-ranked player, is looking to return to form for the French Open starting Sunday after a string of disappointing results.

She was topped by 29th-ranked Samantha Stosur in the second round of the Italian Open last week, and beaten by 53rd-ranked Julia Vakulenko in the German Open third round on May 11.

Jankovic beat Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3, 7-5, while Bartoli defeated Tatjana Malek of Germany 6-3, 6-3.

Jankovic's win at the Italian Open last week was her third title of the season. The Serb has now reached at least the quarterfinals six straight times and in 11 of 14 tournaments this season.

Li beat Russia's Vera Dushevina 6-2, 6-3, while Medina Garrigues downed Alicia Molik of Australia, 6-2, 6-4, and Loit routed Lilia Osterloh of the United States 6-1, 6-0 to set up a meeting with Mauresmo in Thursday's quarterfinals.

Elena Vesnina of Russia also advanced comfortably after beating Belgium's Caroline Maes 6-1, 6-4, as did Italy's Maria Elena Camerin with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Japan's Aiko Nakamura.
