Ljubicic reaches Zagreb finals

Top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia-Montenegro 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to advance to the Zagreb Indoors final.

Top-seeded Ivan Ljubicic defeated Novak Djokovic of Serbia-Montenegro 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to advance to the Zagreb Indoors final. Ljubicic, who is 13-1 this season and won a title in Chennai earlier this year, was expected to cruise to victory against Djokovic. However, the 18-year-old Serb kept the Croat scrambling far behind the baseline. Djokovic won the first set by capitalising on his forehand and a string of forced errors. But Ljubicic took more risks in the next set and got a break in the first game. Ljubicic, who has reached at least the semifinals in six of his last nine events, staved off break points at 0-1 and 2-3 in the third set before taking Djokovic's serve at 3-3. (AP)
