The 18-year-old will next take on Aiko Nakamura of Japan, who defeated Mashona Washinton of USA in her first round match. However, Sania faces a tougher challenge if she advances to the quarterfinals, where she is likely to play top seed Vera Zvonareva, currently ranked 22nd.
