India rejoices over Sania's victory
The whole nation is celebrating Sania Mirza's victory in the WTA Hyderabad Open.

The whole nation is celebrating Sania Mirza's victory in the WTA Hyderabad Open. Sania created history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a WTA tournament on Saturday evening. She beat her Ukrainian opponent Alyona Bondarenko 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in a match, which lasted just over two hours. Ever since then, tennis fans in the country are on cloud nine. 'No fluke' Through her victory, Sania proved that her performance at the Australian Open was not a flash in the pan. Sania has been scaling new highs with every match and her confidence in her own ability to make a mark on the world stage has gone up several notches. "I beat quite a few top 100 players. It obviously gives me confidence that once was not a fluke and I know that I can beat the top 100-125 players and play five days in a row and play great matches,'' said the player. Growing fan club The Sania fan club now includes just about everybody in India. From politicians to young girls aspiring to be tennis players to the people on the street, everyone is thrilled with the youngster's achievement. "We are very glad that she has won the Open and that too at Hyderabad,'' said Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh For the Mirza family, the week has been like a festival with relatives from all over coming into Hyderabad to share the happiness.
