Brisbane: Martina Hingis gave herself eight marks on 10 for her comeback game on Monday. The Swiss miss, playing her first competitive match in three years, started out with a win. Hingis beat Venezuala's Vento Kabachi 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of the Australian Women's Hardcourt Tournament in Brisbane. Though the victory was over a player ranked 62nd in the world, it will probably give Hingis the confidence to notch up a few more wins ahead of the Australian Open where she will play as a wild card entry. But for Hingis, the biggest boost was the sort of crowd support she received. The next stop for Martina Hingis will now be the Sydney Invitational as the former world number one prepares for the Australian Open.
