Indian Wells:

Former world number one Martina Hingis has defeated tenth seed Dinara Safina 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells. The win came a day after Hingis dumped out second seed Lindsay Davenport. "So far, so good. I'm definitely very happy with the progress I'm making," she said. "Today probably wasn't my prettiest game, but it was effective. Now I've got a day of rest, and will see what I can do in the semifinals". Hingis has now set up her third consecutive showdown with world number 5 Maria Sharapova, whom she has already defeated this year. (With AP inputs)
