Lleyton Hewitt cruised to victory on Sunday 29th August in the final of TD Waterhouse Cup, as he easily defeated Peru's Luis Horna, 6-3, 6-1. For Hewitt, it was his second consecutive tournament victory, and 10th consecutive match win. Horna, playing in his first final of the season, served up an ace that was recorded at 134 miles per hour. One more ace followed and the 23-year old trailed Hewitt 3-2 in the first set. Hewitt dominates But Hewitt soon began to dominate Horna. Hewitt's backhand shot down the line ended a rally with a winner. It was vintage stuff from the Australian as he went on to win the first set, 6-3. Early in the second set, the speedy Hewitt again showed his consummate court coverage, as he put pressure on Horna and won the rally with a beautiful stretch drop volley winner. The always entertaining Hewitt fired a forehand winner that just fell in centimeters before the baseline. Later in the second set, Hewitt displayed his court coverage, as he ran down a drop volley from Horna, and then won the point with his own drop volley winner that caught Horna flat-footed. On match point, Hewitt uncorked an ace and won the match 6-3, 6-1. (AP)
