Henin halts Kournikova's comeback bid

Russia's Anna Kournikova is knocked out of the Australian Open in the first round by Belgium's Justine Henin.

Russia's Anna Kournikova was knocked out of the Australian Open in the first round by Belgium's Justine Henin. Kournikova, who was in trouble from the start, was beaten in straight sets 6-2 7-5. Despite a strong fight back in the second set, Kournikova could not hold out against the sixth seed Henin on the Vodafone Arena. Kournikova, who reached the quarterfinals in Melbourne last year, missed much of 2001 through injury and has now slipped out of the world's top 50 rankings.
