Haas in CA Trophy quarters

Germany's Tommy Haas, American Robbie Ginepri and Argentine David Nalbandian won through to the quarterfinals of the CA Trophy in Vienna.

Germany's Tommy Haas, American Robbie Ginepri and Argentine David Nalbandian won through to the quarterfinals of the CA Trophy in Vienna, Austria on Thursday. Haas was up against compatriot Florian Mayer in their second round match. The more experienced of the two Germans was able to produce the winners when it counted, and even when Mayer attacked the net, Haas passed him with ease. The first set went the way of Haas, 6-3, and the second set followed a similar pattern. Haas broke serve when he needed to, and the match finished with Mayer dumping a backhand volley into the net. Haas emerged the winner in straight sets 6-3 and 6-4. In the other matches, Ginepri upset fifth seed Paradorn Srichaphan 6-2, 6-1, whilst top seed Nalbandian was a 6-2, 7-6 winner over local favourite Stefan Koubek. (AP)
