Gaudio edges out Hewitt

Argentina's Gaston Gaudio beat Australia's Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets to reach the French Open semi-finals.

Argentina's Gaston Gaudio beat Australia's Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets to reach the French Open men's semi-finals. Unseeded Gaudio beat the 12th seed Hewitt 6-3 6-2 6-2 in their quarter-finals clash today. Hewitt foundered half way through the first set. Up 40-0, Hewitt lost serve at 3-4. Playing in his first major quarter-final, Gaudio held his grip and made five more service breaks. Gaudio now awaits the winner of today's second quarter-final between compatriot David Nalbandian and Brazil's Gustavo Kuerten.
