Guillermo Canas of Argentina makes it to the semi-finals of the Tata Open ATP Tour Tennis championship.

Chennai:

Top seed Guillermo Canas of Argentina made it to the semi-finals by default as Jiri Vanek from Cezch Republic conceded the match after trailing 5-7 1-1 in the Tata Open ATP Tour Tennis championship here today. Playing on the centre court for the third day running, Canas seemed to be bogged down having to fight for first set victory. Vanek retired with severe back ache after losing the first set 5-7 and trailing 0-15 in the third game with scoreline reading 1-1 in the second set. Canas now awaits winner of the match between Karol Kucera (Slovakia) and Fabrice Santoro (France). (PTI)
