India lost their crucial Hopman Cup mixed team tennis tie against Spain after Rohan Bopanna went down in straight sets to world number 7 Tommy Robredo in the men's singles encounter in Perth on Thursday. Davis cupper Bopanna lost 2-6 3-6 in the second match of the tie after Sania Mirza went down fighting to Anabel Medina Garrigues in the opening match of the rubber. Making their debut in the prestigious event, the Indian duo had kept their nerves to notch up thrilling upset wins against Czech Republic and Croatia.
