Bondarenko, Yan in quarterfinals at Rabat

Unseeded Anne Kremer of Luxembourg upset world number two Zheng Jie of China in second-round of play at the Grand Prix SAR, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Rabat: Unseeded Anne Kremer of Luxembourg upset number two Zheng Jie of China in second-round play on Thursday at the Grand Prix SAR, advancing to the quarterfinals. Kremer now faces Martina Sucha of Slovakia, who defeated American Vania King, 6-1, 6-0. Fifth-seeded Alona Bondarenko and ninth-seeded Yan Zi also advanced to the quarterfinals. Ukraine's Bondarenko beat Bethanie Mattek of the United States 6-3, 6-2 and earned a match with Hana Sromova of the Czech Republic. Yan downed Madalina Gojnea from Romania 6-2, 6-4 and next will face third-seeded Emilie Loit. (AP)
