Bhupathi-Mirnyi bow out, Seles departs

India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Belarus' Max Mirnyi bow out of Wimbledon doubles event in the quarter-finals.

London:

The third-seeded pair of India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Belarus' Max Mirnyi bowed out of the doubles event at Wimbledon. They lost to Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Todd Woodbridge of Australia in the quarter-finals. Fifth seeds Bjorkman and Woodbridge won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. Henin ousts Seles Belgian sixth seed Justine Henin, last year's runner-up here, ousted fourth-seeded American Monica Seles 7-5, 7-6 (7/4) to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon. Henin took 1hr 33min to wrap up the tie which was twice halted by rain. She next meets two-time defending champion and top seed Venus Williams for a place in the finals. (PTI)
