Belgians advance in Porsche Grand Prix

Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters advanced into the semi-finals of the Porsche Grand Prix at Filderstadt on Friday.

The Belgian duo of Justine Henin-Hardenne and Kim Clijsters advanced into the semi-finals of the Porsche Grand Prix at Filderstadt, near Stuttgart, in Germany on Friday. Henin-Hardenne easily beat Russia's Elena Dementieva 7-5, 6-0, while Kim Clijsters eventually got the better of France's Amelie Mauresmo 6-4, 6-3. The battle for the WTA Tour's number one spot intensified during the quarter-finals of the Porsche Grand Prix at Fliderstadt, near Stuttgart, in Germany. If Justine Henin-Hardenne reaches Sunday's final, then fellow Belgian Kim Clijsters must also be there, otherwise she will lose her top ranking. In the semi-finals, Henin-Hardenne faces the Russian Elena Bovina, while Clijsters will play France's Mary Pierce. (AP)
