Melbourne: India's Sania Mirza kicked off her Australian Open campaign with a win. The Hyderabadi Hurricane beat Ukraine's Olga Savchuk to advance to the second round. She beat Savchuk, ranked 49 spots below her in straight sets of 6-3, 7-5 to sail through on Day 2. Sania, fresh from her semi-final appearance at the Hobart International tournament last week, where she beat higher ranked opponents on two occasions, looked fitter and stronger. The 19-year-old Ukrainian suffered throughout the match due to heat but made a good comeback in the second set. But Sania proved to be the stronger of the two. "Well, I feel a lot fitter, I'm moving lot better. Probably my serve obviously is the weakest point in my game right now but it's not exactly a weakness, but it is not a strength. So it is just a matter of consolidating on that playing. I guess playing some quality games against some quality players," said Sania. SaniaaÂÂs best at the Australian open is a third round appearance in 2005.
