Chennai:

Wild card entrant Prakash Amritraj lost to second seed Radek Stepanek in the Chennai Open pre-quarters on Wednesday. Amritraj won the first set 6-3 but lost the second 6-0 and the next one 6-4. His performance was a very creditable showing since Stepanek is currently ranked world number 19. India's only hope in the singles now is Rohan Bopanna who beat Cyril Saulnier on Tuesday. This is Bopanna's second appearance in the singles main draw in ATP tour event in Chennai. In 2003, playing in the main draw as a wild card, he had bowed out in the first round.
