Alshammar sets world record

Barcelona:

Therese Alshammar of Sweden set the world record in the 50m butterfly on Wednesday in 25.46 seconds at Barcelona.

She beat the mark of 25.57 set by Anna-Karin Kammerling on July 30, 2000, in Berlin. Alshammar won gold in the 50 butterfly and silver in the 50 freestyle at the 2007 world championships in Melbourne.
